Cimarron Works -
The Cimarron
Works is a company dedicated to providing new and unique
model train products for the fine scale model railroader.
Using innovative technologies and materials, we produce
limited run kits of rolling stock and structures that once
graced the narrow gauge scene in the earlier part of the
last century. We specialize in models of the fascinating,
more obscure prototypes that would be prohibitively
expensive if done in injected styrene. Each model kit is
painstakingly researched and recreated in a detail not seen
before, most of which is molded in place thus simplifying
construction. Our kits are produced using the finest
materials including engineering tooling resins, injected
plastic castings, etched brass, fine wood, and a variety of
other materials. We use injected plastic castings from PBL,
San Juan, and Grandt. Each model train kit is carefully
engineered using computer assisted design (CAD) and the
patterns carefully crafted by hand to provide maximum detail
and accuracy.
Silver Crash Car Works is about meticulously detailed resin castings, in HO scale, of rolling stock that appeared on American railroads in the years just before and after the Silver Panic of 1893. The period from 1880 to 1900 has always been poorly served by model railroad manufacturers, and until recently, wooden craftsman kits - tedious to assemble and lacking in fine detail - made up 90% of what was available. With the improvements in casting technology over the last few years, our Master Car Builders realized that rather than scratchbuilding multiple copies of the cars they wanted, they could make just one superbly detailed master of each car, then have it cast for themselves and those around them.
Bitter Creek Models has 4-hole swing motion trucks for Armour reefers, 'Canda' trucks for CRI&P cars, 5' arch bar trucks and plenty of other goodies.
Trout Creek Engineering has Thielsen 4'6" wheelbase swing motion trucks and old-style wooden rolling stock kits.
